The principles of legality and rule of law are universally regarded as conditions for the legitimacy and stability of constitutional democracies. However, since the last decades of the last century, these principles have been confronted by an increasingly complex institutional environment, under extraordinary pressures. This applies to the theory and practice of constitutional democracies and drive us to revise the regulatory framework in which to analyze the process of democratization. In the specific field of reflection of the right, the Workshop entitled "The changing role of law in the era of transnational and supranational governance" is on the study of a series of new realities, closely related to these transformations, such as new forms of governance, new legal instruments of soft law, and new production instances informal rules.
